SWF files are binary files stored as 8-bit bytes. swf and currently for historical reasons the MIME type is application/x-shockwave-flash. SWF files are stored in files with the extension. It can be played in Web browsers that has the Flash plug-in installed. It can also contain text as well as raster vector graphics. A SWF file is a small file that displays animated vector graphics. SWF files are often pronounced Swiff files, they were developed by Macromedia which is now owned by Adobe. Just like the PPTX format the PPSX format improves file sizing, data recovery and data management and allows for other applications to interact with it due to the XML structure. It supports Text, Images, Audio and Video and is stored in a zipped directory format which matches the OPC structure. PPSX are compressed and based on the ECMA-376 standard for Office Open XML. The 'X' extension refers to Microsoft Office 2007, 20 which ZIP compress the file and is therefore different from the previous versions which were generally have larger file sizes. It differs from PPTX which allows for the file to be editable. PPSX is a PowerPoint Open XML Slide Show - it is primarily designed to be non-editable and to simply playback the Powerpoint presentation.
